Running to a Healthier Life
The Jag Running Club was created at Greystone Elementary in Hoover, Alabama in March of 2011. I created the club as my Girl Scout Gold Award project, with the assistance of Leta Hoit. The club offers the students an opportunity to run twice a week before school. They run in a safe environment and the only equipment required is a pair of shoes. We focus on the basics of running, stretching, eating healthy, but the primary focus is on making it a fun experience. By keeping it fun, it will teach the kids to keep running and making exercise a priority in their lives. We average about 25-30 kids per practice and participation continues to grow. We got our paws moving, now it’s your turn. Join the Movement!
