The Brooklyn Rescue Mission founded the Bed-Stuy Farm, an urban community farm in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn New York. The Mission gives and supplies fresh food from the Bed-Stuy Farm to residents in the community. The youth team works on the farm each week to raise the chickens and plant and harvest the fresh vegetables. This program teaches the youth important growing methods, as well as reinforcing practices for healthy and active living, while keeping the youth off the streets.
